Early in the morning, a careful and experienced driver named Oraz prepares for a long road trip across Turkmenistan. He works as a professional driver, transporting goods between cities. Today his journey will go from Ashgabat to Turkmenabat, passing deserts, villages, and mountains.
Before leaving, Oraz checks his truck carefully. He looks at the tires, lights, brakes, and fuel tank. Safety is very important to him. After a warm cup of green tea and a quick breakfast, he gets into the driver’s seat and starts the engine.
The sun is rising slowly, painting the sky orange. Oraz drives out of the city and onto the open highway. He enjoys watching the changing landscapes—golden desert sands, long empty roads, and the distant Kopetdag mountains.
“Turkmenistan is beautiful,” he thinks.
At a small checkpoint, he meets a friendly police officer who checks his documents.
“Have a safe trip, dost!” the officer says.
“Thank you,” Oraz replies and continues driving.
Around midday, he stops at a roadside chaýhana to rest. He drinks tea and eats fresh chorek with cheese. A few other drivers are also resting. They talk about road conditions, weather forecasts, and their families. Oraz enjoys these moments of peace.
Back on the road, he listens to traditional Turkmen music. The melody keeps him relaxed during the long drive. Sometimes he passes shepherds with their sheep or camels crossing the road slowly. Oraz always slows down, respecting the animals and their owners.
In the afternoon, he reaches a small village. Children wave at his truck, and Oraz honks the horn gently to make them smile. He thinks about his own children waiting for him at home and feels warm inside.
As he approaches Turkmenabat, the weather changes slightly. Gray clouds appear, and a light wind blows. Oraz drives carefully, focusing on the road. After several hours, he finally reaches the warehouse where he must deliver the goods. Workers greet him and help unload the truck.
When everything is finished, Oraz signs the papers and stretches his tired arms. He feels proud because he completed another long and safe trip.
Before resting for the night, he looks at the road ahead and thinks,
“Driving is not just work—it is a journey that connects people, cities, and stories.”
