A Picnic Day with Merjen’s Big Family

Today is Sunday and the weather is warm in Turkmenistan. Merjen and her family go to the park for a big picnic. Her mother brings corek and tea. Her father brings shashlik. Merjen carries apples, and her little brother Aly carries water.

Soon, Merjen’s grandmother and grandfather arrive. Her aunt Melek and uncle Arslan also come. Everyone sits on a large Turkmen carpet under the trees.

They eat food, drink tea, and talk about family news. Merjen plays ball with Aly while the adults laugh and enjoy the day. Her grandmother gives her a warm hug.

Before going home, the family takes a happy photo together.

Merjen thinks, “I love my big family.”
