After school, two classmates sit together in the classroom. Maya is trying to do her math homework, but some questions are difficult for her. She looks at the paper and sighs.
Her friend Kerim notices and says,
“Do you need help?”
Maya smiles softly.
“Yes, I don’t understand this problem.”
Kerim takes her notebook and explains the steps slowly.
“This is easy. Look—first you add these numbers.”
Maya listens carefully and tries again.
“Oh! Now I understand,” she says happily.
Kerim smiles.
“You did it! Good job.”
They finish the homework together.
Before leaving, Maya says,
“Thank you, Kerim. You are a good friend.”
