This afternoon, a young girl named Melek sits at her small desk and prepares a gift for her mother. She takes colored paper, scissors, and glue. Slowly, she makes a pretty card with flowers on it.
“I hope my mother likes this,” Melek says softly.
When the card is ready, she writes “I love you” inside it. Then she walks to the living room, where her mother is arranging cushions. Her mother is wearing her elegant ýaglyk, hanging lightly behind her.
Melek gives her the card. Her mother smiles warmly and hugs her tightly.
“This is beautiful,” she says. “Thank you, my dear.”
Melek feels proud and happy.
