This evening, Maya is sitting in the living room with her little brother Aly. Aly wants to look at picture books, but he cannot read all the words yet. Maya smiles and says, “I can read it for you.”
They sit on a soft carpet near the window. Maya opens the book and reads slowly. Aly listens carefully and looks at the colorful pictures. Sometimes he asks, “What does this word mean?”
Maya explains each word in a simple way.
Their father brings warm tea for both of them. He says, “You two look happy.”
Aly hugs his sister and says, “Thank you for reading.”
They enjoy their quiet evening together.
