The Girl and the Melon Garden- Iňlis dili Gysga hekaýa

Once upon a time, in a quiet Turkmen village surrounded by soft hills and warm golden fields, there lived a young girl named Maya. She loved visiting her grandfather, who lived near a wide and beautiful melon garden. Her grandfather was kind, patient, and strong. He always welcomed Maya with a warm smile, and she enjoyed spending peaceful afternoons with him.

One summer morning, Maya’s mother baked fresh bread and placed it into a small basket. She asked Maya to take it to her grandfather. Maya happily agreed. She put on her comfortable dress and began walking along the dusty village road. The gentle wind touched her hair, and birds sang softly around her. The village felt calm and warm under the bright sun.

When Maya arrived, her grandfather was standing near his garden. He wore a traditional telpek, and his long white beard shone in the sunlight. Maya followed him into the garden, where rows of big, round melons stretched across the field. Some were yellow, some were dark green, and some had light stripes. The sweet smell of ripe fruit filled the air.

Together, they walked slowly between the plants. Maya lifted each melon carefully to see which ones were heavy and firm. Her grandfather showed her how to choose the best fruit and how to care for the growing plants. After selecting a few melons, they rested under a shady tree.

Her grandfather cut one open, and the red inside looked soft and juicy. Maya tasted it and felt happy. The afternoon was quiet and warm, and the garden felt like a special place. As she prepared to go home, Maya felt thankful for the peaceful day with her grandfather and hoped to return again soon.
